Best Seasons for Ganesh Himal Trekking:

Ganesh Himal Trekking is located within Mid-West Himalaya.The best times is from March to May and September to early November months of the year, from March to May in spring season, where most days are fine for clear views and walks, with longer sunlight hours but cold in the morning and night time above 1,800 m onward. Could snow sometimes around much higher altitude.

Trekking will be wonderful and magic in spring time when wild flowers are in full bloom, especially the rhododendron of different species from tall trees to bushes with magnolia.Late afternoon can get overcast with snow and rain on higher hills sometimes.Next good times from mid-September to early November around autumn / fall season with crystal clear fine morning and on day time with excellent views of peaks and for pleasant walks with bright starry night sky.

During autumn shorter day with sun-light hours, one can expect snow on trails sometimes on higher areas around Pasang-la Pass.

People and Culture:

Ganesh Himal and around Mid-West Himalaya region is mostly populated by Tamang hill tribes with strong Buddhism religion and similar culture of Tibetan, adorned with interesting ancient ritual with religious monuments of Stupa.

Tamang people also practice ancient Bon sect of pre-Buddhism worship of nature and five important element sky,water / Cloud, Fire / Thunder, Vegetation and Earth / Soil on walk witness lovely traditional farm villages of fascinating cultures of age-old heritage of great interest.Lower farm areas are inhabited by mixed race of people Magar, Gurung, Newars with Chettris, Bhramins and Dalits of both Hindu and Buddhism religions with various cultures as per the village communities.

Adventure leads to fascinating super views of beautiful scenery overlooking great Himalaya mountain range at close distance surrounded by green rolling hills and valleys covered with dense forest of tall oaks, rhododendron, blue pines, and magnolia with fir trees. Ganesh Himal,a massive bulk and group of peaks with main Ganesh-I towers above 7,422 m /24,350 ft high, with three other peaks above 7, 000 meters and with fourteen lesser of 6,000 meters and below within its massive range, the first successful climb was by Franco-Swiss Expedition team via the Southeast Ridge in 1955.

Ganesh Himal also straddles the border with South Western Tibet its Northern Face.The mountains can be clearly seen from Kathmandu valley on a clear fine day and the local name for Ganesh Himal is called Yangra of Tibetan origin language which means ‘heavenly snow-capped range.

This is a fabulous adventure where walk takes you within complete wilderness of high mountains and into deep green alpine and coniferous in spring time.The whole valley and hills will be bright and active when wild flowers are in full bloom especially the rhododendron of various species, with magnolia makes the place enchanting like an Eden Garden.

Ganesh Himal trek begins with exciting drive from Kathmandu to reach the starting point of the adventure around low warm areas of Gorkha and Dhading districts at Arughat farm town, and then heading due North on leaving the main trail of Manaslu route towards remote and isolated country.

Walk takes you through nice lovely farm villages with well-tended farm terraces with time to enjoy and explore around to catch glimpse of local culture and traditional farm life of great simplicity.slowly walk lead further high direction getting close within high green hills facing incredible panorama of mountain range on reaching top of Pasang-La a pass also called Bhanjyang means a high ridge.
