Best Seasons for Annapurna Base Camp and Poon Hill Sunrise Trekking:

Nearly all months of the year, except wet monsoon rainy season from mid June to mid September, best time is in spring season from March to May when days are fine and clear for views and walks, with longer sunlight hours but cold in the morning and night time above 1,600 m onward.

Late afternoon can get overcast with snow and rain on higher hills sometimes, next good months is from mid September to December around autumn / fall and pre-winter seasons with clear fine morning and day for excellent views of peaks and pleasant treks. The days are much shorter with sun-light hours due to autumn and pre-winter season can get snowed sometimes on higher areas at Ghorepani and Tadapani and from Chomrong onward to Annapurna base camp.

It is a perfect adventure where trekkers can have ample time to enjoy fascinating scenery of dramatic green hills and high ridge covered with enchanting tall trees of rhododendron, magnolia, firs and pine trees.In spring time,hills around high Ghorepani are lively with wild flowers in seasonal bloom especially the national flower of Nepal,the rhododendron with various species from trees to bush.The area around Ghorepani is surrounded by dense wood of rhododendron which is regarded as world largest natural garden that one can witness on the fabulous walks on Annapurna base camp and Poon Hill Sunrise trekking adventure.

First walk of the journey begins with short drive from scenic Pokhara city and its lovely green valley and then heading high with climb on series of stone steps,then on gradual winding path within tall tree lines to reach at Ghorepani village.

Located within forest surroundings and at the base of famous Poon Hill where early morning hike reaches you at most scenic spot on top;Poon Hill for exciting wide panorama of Himalaya range of peaks with striking and alluring sunrise views that reflects on world three highest mountain range.

From Poon Hill along with sunrise enjoy overlooking Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Annapurna and Manaslu all above 8,000 meters ranking 7th, 10th and 8th world tallest peaks with towering peak of Machhapuchare,the famous Fish-Tail.

After enjoyable scenic moment,our next adventure takes you past Ghorepani with ups and down into beautiful forest along with glorious views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range to reach past Tadapani towards Annapurna base camp and the sanctuary.

Walk of down and ups towards large lovely village at Chomrong,the door to Annapurna sanctuary and base camp, as well the last permanent village of Gurung tribe, where on route Annapurna base camp with designated small settlement with lodges to cater travelers.

Adventure takes you into a gorge of raging Modi River to follow upstream as walk climbs up into a wide open valley, actually a table-land or a plateau of beautiful Annapurna Sanctuary surrounded with amphitheater of peaks.Soon walk enters right in the heart of massive Annapurna-I at base camp on the highest spot of the trek at 4,130 m high where you can enjoy glamorous panorama of mountain range in the comfort of nice and cozy lodge at base camp.

After most exciting time with fabulous views,being on the target and main highlight of the adventure, with marvelous enjoyable moment and overnight at Annapurna base camp, where return journey takes you back at Chomrong village.

From Chomrong,on alternative route to reach lower foot hills at Jhin, a village with fresh natural hot spring nearby where one can enjoy refreshing dip in warm and hot pools to relax your muscles from ups and downhill walks.

Completing our last day walks at near Jhinu village taking a short interesting drive back to lovely Pokhara by its calm Phewa Lake to end our fantastic adventure and overwhelming experience on Annapurna Base Camp and Poon Hill Sunrise Trekking.

Day 01:     Main arrival in Kathmandu 1,320 m via various airlines.

Day 02:     In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour and trek preparation.

Day 03:     Drive / Fly to Pokhara 860 m and transfer to hotel - 06 hrs journey.

Day 04:     Drive to Nayapul and trek to Tirkhedhunga 1,445 m - 04 hrs. 

Day 05:     Trek to Ghorepani 2,880 m -06 hrs.

Day 06:     Hike to Poon Hill 3,210 m and trek to Tadapani 2,630m -06 hrs.

Day 07:     Trek to Chomrong 2,170 m - 06 hrs.

Day 08:     Trek to Dovan 2,630 m - 06 hrs.

Day 09:     Trek to Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,780 m - 06 hrs.

Day 10:     Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) at 4,130 m - 03 hrs.

Day 11:     Trek from Base Camp to Bamboo 2,345 m - 06 hrs

Day 12:     Trek to Jhinu village 1,780m with Hot Spring - 06 hrs.

Day 13:     Trek to the road head and drive to Pokhara-04 hrs.

Day 14:     Fly or drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Day 15:     International departure to respective countries homeward bound.



Extension in Pokhara:

While in Pokhara with more time,one can extend for other adventure sports activities rafting, mountain biking, boating, Ultra-light flight, Para-gliding and Zip Flyer or just relax and enjoy at leisure with views of Annapurna Himalaya.
